BUILDING PERMITS and inspections are required for most activites, including: new construction (homes, barns, sheds, garages, etc.), additions to existing building (including room, deck, porch, lean-to, etc.), alterations to existing building, certain repairs of existing building, razing existing building, moving existing building, fences, signs, and solar installations.  

Prior to obtaining a building permit, an AUTHORIZATION FOR BUILDING INSPECTOR TO ISSUE BUILDING PERMIT is required from the Town Board; this is to advise the Town of future construction/activity in the Town.  There is no cost for this permit. Authorization for Building Permit

After receiving the approved AUTHORIZATION, contact Tony at TF Inspection Agency, LLC at 651-380-8764 or http://tfinspectionagency.com for the permit.  The cost of the building permit is dependent on the project and is listed in Resolution 2025-01 or can be obtained from the inspector.

If a DRIVEWAY will be needed to access the site, a driveway permit must be obtained and the driveway installed prior to any construction. Fee for driveway is $50.  Driveway permit.

BURNING PERMITS   A true “permit” is not required.  Town residents must call and notify St. Croix County non-emergency Fire Dispatch at 715-386-4701 to inform them of a planned burn.  The resident will be required to leave a phone number where they can be reached in case someone calls in the fire.  The resident is responsible and liable for any charges if the fire department is called to the fire, whether the fire is out of control or not.  Residents may want to contact their insurance company to ensure you have adequate coverage.
